Early Radiator Shell Lacing Source?
I am looking for a source for the radiator shell lacing used on the early radiator shell. See attached picture. My guess is that the lacing would be the same as for a T. Anyone know?
I can't remember where I got the lacing shown in the attached picture (senior moment I guess).

I would bet you would be happy with the lacing for the T. It would be less expensive than from R.S.

I wonder if the T used different width lacing? Black painted steel shells had square holes, the plated ones were made of brass and had round holes. Bob

Re: Early Radiator Shell Lacing Source?
I found the attached in the Judging Standards (page 1.1).
I searched the Restoration Supply catalog and they have 1/2" or 5/8" wide flat x 1/8" thick flat (woven brown fiber with asphalt) I searched the Lang's Old Car Parts and they have a flat shell lacing: "Threads through the holes in the radiator shell and protects hood from being scratched." I will call them to find out the width/thickness.

How does one go about making such a thing? I really am interested and not just causing trouble.

Re: Early Radiator Shell Lacing Source?
Brent,
Do you have any suggestions on how to go about making the lacing? I called Lang's Old Car Parts - their hood lacing is 3/8" wide and sells for $3.95 for a 5' piece. Or, it can be bought by the foot @ $.95/ft. The replacement lacing on my shell was 5/8" wide. After several years of being installed, it is now about 9/16" wide. I believe it requires about 5' 6" (maybe less) to do the A shell. The Restoration Supply Company sells 5/8" wide (flat 1/8" thick) lacing. It is $2.50/ft. (part CLO003) If 9/16" wide lacing can not be made/found, then the 5/8" wide lacing seems the best for originally.
