Default Paint immersion?

When painting steering tubes and other thin metal parts were they immersed so that the inside as well as the outside was protected?

I don't think they worried about the inside , but dipping makes the most sense ,as the tube needs to be rolled around to paint it . I have seen them coming down the line hanging , The steering lock would be painted at the same time (fitted ), as the hardware would be assembled after .Filling the little screw holes etc on the lock with paint would be a issue
, sprayed likely .Ted

Ford did a lot of dipping, carefully notice the hardened drop on a lower surface. Newc
