Default ford model A coupe

In many old photographs of the late 20s and early 30s you see a lot of model A coupes. In fact, I have a photo of my mother in law from 1934 siting on the running board of a model a coupe. Was this the fun car of the time or was it just cheaper to own one?

Open cars were less expensive. If you could afford it, closed cars provided more comfort. Roll up windows and everything!
What will they think of next?
