Question Odd spare tire mount?

My friend Larry found this on the backseat floor of his '29 sedan. We think it might be a spare tire mount, possibly attached with a trunk. Any guesses what he has? Thanks for looking!

That is a rear spare tire mount that fastens to a Kari Keen trunk, to mount the spare on the BACK of the trunk, rather then the trunk behind the spare. It bolts to the back of the trunk and the spare folds down when you open the trunk
