Default Vintage Key Fob

I finally found an appropriate key fob for the 52 Merc. It is a Mercury car and truck dealer from right here in Sask. and I have had it for years. Just finally clicked that I should have it on the Merc.
Those of you south of the border might not be familiar with the little War Amps key tag also on the chain. Back in the sixties when you bought new plates every year with a new number, the War Amps would send you a new tag with a miniature version of your license plate to hang on the key tag. That way if you lost your keys and someone found them they would just return them to War Amps and you'd get your keys back. I never had to use it but that is the way it was supposed to work.

I've got one of those "War Amps" (DAV) tags from 1947 as a key fob on my AV8.

I use to look forward to them coming every year. My Dad never used them on his own keychain, said that if he lost his keys with the plate on them, whoever found them would find his car using the plate # and steal it.

We in New Zealand had a key tab issued by the the Motor Vehicle license department with our Black and silver lettered number plates issued in 1964 that if you lost the keys they could be returned to the I.H. This key tab is on our 1947 coupe keychain.

I bet that would be rare nowadays to have one with a matching pair of plates. And even harder to find them in your state.

I know I can match up a few plates with tags because I have all my dad's license plates from the the years he ran the Merc (59-69). Currently I have 52 and 53 plates on the Merc and I won't have matching tags for them.
