Yes, those forged steel levers are pretty rare. The levers were nickel plated. Does your upper casting have a "Z" on the front or a raised "Z" on the back of the upper casting? I restored one and sold it to Dean Drenzik, owner of Model A serial number 495.

Has a "Z" stamped on the front top half and is a Zenith. Has the original pin to hold venturi. Just Zenith ,not 1 or 2. Venturi will have to be replace, have new one....JD

Here are a couple of pictures of what you are discussing. This choke lever is forged steel and does have manufacturer's marking on the front. The throttle leaver is also forged steel. Both are nickel plated. This is on a md-December 27. The carburetor is the first generation Zenith with the raised "Z" on the throat in the engine side. The lower bowl is single pinned on the engine side for the double venture and is engraved Zenith on the bowl.

My levers look the same with the same markings except the choke lever extends out with the small hole on end like the later ones. Nickle plated steel.

The Zenith Double Venturi that came on my A1276, which had only a little over 25,000 original miles, has the retaining pin on the lower housing only on the engine side, no boss on the front side, the bowl is marked with only Zenith. The upper housing only has a Z on the engine side, plain on the front side. The throttle lever is forged steel and the choke lever is forged steel with no lower leg. Neither the throttle or choke levers showed any evidence of ever being nickel plated.

On this Zenith, there is no removable secondary well, the compensating jet is a #18 (.036),the cap jet has the orfice at the bottom of the jet.

I have found nickel plating on Holley carbs on the brass throttle and choke levers but not on Zenith carbs ?

Got it rebuilt, runs sweet and this one's my new keeper. Didn't have much wear, even the throttle shaft was tight, nice casting. When I got it was crusty but cleaned up nice.posted pic
