Default What to do with title

I got a title that doesn't match the car I bought. Is it legal to sell this title and what is it worth. It is a title for a 1950 F1 Ford with a V8 motor. Thank you

It is illegal to sell titles. That's most likely why Ryan doesn't allow them to be listed here on the Barn. Same reason eBay doesn't allow them to be listed for sale.
Yes, folks do it all of the time. Usually they think they are beating "the system" by advertising them as historical documents or some such nonsense knowing full well they are breaking the law. However, that doesn't make it legal.
What it does do is make it possible that you become part of a crime.

Titles, like cash, do not "belong" to any person. They (titles) belong to the state. We, as individuals "use them".

Thank you for the information. Glad I ask.

In addition to Kubes information that number on the title could belong on a current vehicle. Someone may have that vehicle and may have claimed "lost title" to the state DMV. DMV may have issued a duplicate title with the same ID number that was verified by the inspection of the vehicle.
