Cabriolet top part
Greetings!
I was working on my 68C top this weekend and things are going very well except for one item. The original hard rubber pad that fits under the plate on the end of the vertical bow (under the plate) needs to be replaced. One of mine is intact but the other has dried out to the point of falling apart. Does anybody know of a source of something similar used on earlier or later convertible tops that will work and where can I get them. Hopefully my photo upload works so you can see what I'm talking about. thanks folks. I hope all had a terrific Thanksgiving. |

Re: Cabriolet top part
The equivalent piece from a 68A or B is about 2-7/8" long. If your slot in the plate is close to that, the earlier part should work as an interchange part. Most aftermarket rubber needs a bit of tweaking on a belt sander to perfect the fit anyway.

Re: Cabriolet top part
I have a 68 C and am compiling parts to do mine when the time comes. I bought the snyder units and they will work but have to be cut to fit the 68 C dress plate. Tom said they would work and they look the same except too long. A razor blade takes care of that. Post us some pics of the 68C Would love to see them!

Re: Cabriolet top part
My mechanic purchased an original nos for me at Carlisle. It was I thought a little pricey ( 25 dollars ) but it fit perfectly. He sprayed it with silicone spray and left in in a jar a few days before he installed it We had purchased a suitable replacement that had to be tweaked for the other side. Wayne

Re: Cabriolet top part
I got the ones for my 68C from either Bob Johnson or Larry in Texas.
