Front Brake backing plates
I have new insert pieces for my tie rods (the Passenger side is a little loose). I bought the better teflon ones from Mike's and now have to begin the installation. How difficult is it to remove the brake backing plates to gain access to the tie rod ends to get the guts out? Any suggestions? I have the right book, Les Andrew, just not a lot of details. Thanks for any advice!

Re: Front Brake backing plates
If you remove the stops for the wheels turning, otherwise known as king pin locking bolt nuts, you should gain enough room to undo the screws to get it apart. You will probably have to disconnect it from the steering box first.

Re: Front Brake backing plates
if you take off your front wheels and put the front end on jack stands or a lift, you can turn it all the way to one side so you can get at the end. then once you unscrew the end cap you can lift the tierod off the ball. then you can angle it out to put the new pieces in or even take it off n both sides and work on it off the car.
