Default New Judging Standards - A question about the notations

I'd like to double check with someone on the JS committee or familiar enough to interpret the notations in Section 4, page 22 (Undercarriage).

For example: Battery Support Bolt ............ R2, Bg

R= Raven
Bg = Black
Notation 2= Change date mid 1930

Okay, in the above example, was Raven finish used until mid 1930, or only used after mid 1930?

I assume Black is acceptable throughout production.

What is the correct way to interpret these notations?

The finishes are listed in the date order they were used. In this case, the earliest finish was raven which was later changed to gloss black in mid 1930. When multiple finishes are listed and no superscript numbers are shown, any of the finsihes are acceptable.

It's Raven finish until mid-'30 and black GLOSS (actually dipped) thereafter. "Bg" is black gloss

Okay, one more tutoring session for me. Battery clamp/cover nuts:

Bg, Z (superscript 1), C (superscript 3)

Black gloss until late 28; changed to Zinc plate until early 31; Cadmium plate thereafter.

Am I properly edumacated now?

Good. Thanks to Doug, Marco and everyone else responsible. The new standards are excellent. Kind of makes me want to put another car together with all of this great information.
