Unhappy A curosity question about wiring

Needless-to-say cloth covered wiring has been the bane of old car ownership causing constant operational problems and an occasional fire just to keep things "interesting." Any idea when plastic coated wire came into general use by the manufacturers, specifically Ford?

Thanks

Tom

My 54 Ford had the cloth, my 56 Bird had plastic, so its either 55 or 56 for Ford.
