Default Zenith Carb with brass screw-in GAV seat

Is a gasket placed under the brass seat for the GAV in the Zenith Carb? Thank you, Ed

The brass GAV seat for the Zenith is pipe thread, so it should NOT need a gasket.

Uh? "The brass GAV seat for the Zenith is pipe thread,..." I think not! I don't know where you got that information from but according to all the carb books and articles that I've consulted the thread of the brass GAV seat is M5x .75 metric ( same as the the jets ) . The only pipe thread that I am aware of on the Zenith is the brass GAV housing 3/8-24 SAE ( I must admit I have never measured any of them to establish veracity!)

My apologies, you are correct. I misread your post; I was referring to where the GAV sleeve housing with the needle threads into the body of the carb. I stand corrected.

NOTICE:

Some castings are softer than others ...

Do not hammer a screwdriver into the gasket in an attempt to remove the old gasket.

Doing so will put a groove in the cast iron seat where brass GAV seats to the casting ... then all you have is a junk lower casting!
