The brass GAV seat for the Zenith is pipe thread, so it should NOT need a gasket.

I don't know where you got that information from but according to all the carb books and articles that I've consulted the thread of the brass GAV seat is M5x .75 metric ( same as the the jets ) . The only pipe thread that I am aware of on the Zenith is the brass GAV housing 3/8-24 SAE ( I must admit I have never measured any of them to establish veracity!)

My apologies, you are correct. I misread your post; I was referring to where the GAV sleeve housing with the needle threads into the body of the carb. I stand corrected.

NOTICE:

Some castings are softer than others ...

Do not hammer a screwdriver into the gasket in an attempt to remove the old gasket.

Doing so will put a groove in the cast iron seat where brass GAV seats to the casting ... then all you have is a junk lower casting!
