Can someone tell me if there is welting down the sides of the middle grill on my 41 Ford. Car was all apart when I got it.

My parts book shows NO welting.

This depending on the body color and if you are making a points restoration. In my early Dealers show room brochure they do not show any welting around the grill and neither does the factory parts book. I have seen other pictures with the welting. I have chosen to use it on my car (see picture) and it looks like it's suppose to be there.

Hi,
the grill on my 41 had welting. It was the same size as the welting used in between the tank and the firewall on a model a, not the big kind used on fenders.
Ford made at least two kinds of center grills for 41,s. The frst is the pot metal kind we usually see. The second was stamped from sheet steel. This type came out in late-late 41 to save zinc for the war.the last was the aftermarket type. It did,nt have the "ford" on the top. If a person has a late-late 41, finding a stamped original grill would be a hard thing to find as they made so few of them.
