Hello Kube, I just sold & delivered a 1940 Ford original chassis to Kevan Sledge in Auburn Calif which had a V-8 60. you can find Kevan selling 38-40 parts.

According to VanPelt's web site, the 1940 60 hp vin numbers started with 54, while the 85 hp started with 18.

Young guy that bought that sedan couldn't wait to get rid of the 60 stuff and make a common model out of it. I contacted him about buying the parts but they were already gone. I have a good '40 engine and wanted to use it in my other coupe. Think the man was HAMB type. He did post pictures. Luckily many of the chassis parts except trans are same back to '37. I am looking at a sales slip where my mother traded in a 1940 standard (vin # 54-537426) in May 21st. of 1954 for a used 1949 6 cyl. two dr. sedan. It says she paid $700.00 and another $15.00 for seat covers and got a huge allowance of $150.00 for that old coupe ! Such a deal ? I learned to drive in that old car.

1940 standard coupe.

Came with its original 60hp engine plus a spare in the trunk.

Working on a rebuild right now.
