Default 40 standard 39 deluxe

Are the 40 standard grilles the same as a 39 Deluxe. I am pretty sure the hoods are different but not sure about the grilles.

They are different but interchangeable.

I don't think the 40 standard has the holes for the 39 Deluxe stainless. Is that correct??

That's correct. The grilles are quite different from one another. However, as Flat39 has stated, they do interchange.

Thanks guys...I will consider my pursuit for a 39 Deluxe. For what it's worth there is a 40 standard in the Hamb classifieds right now that seems reasonable. Anyone who has a lead on a 39 Deluxe grille please let me know.

There was a good one here the other day - went for $1000.
Included the stainless trim.

FF39, my 39 Deluxe had a painted "correct" grill from Argentina....no stainless bars.
I found an original at Hersey for $750 about 8 years ago...would have been perfect, but I passed because of the $$. Three years later, found one at Hersey for $1500.

So, because I wanted an original looking grill, I painted the grill I had black and bought the grill bars, including the center bar, from Bob Drake on sale. I drilled about 144 holes for the clips and did the install. Hard to tell it's not original and I love the look. Makes a world of difference on the front view.

Dick.
