John you don't want the cheapest, you want good heavy duty tubes. These old cars are hard to control if a tire go's, with the new roads they are driven faster then back in the old days. G.M.

Good advice GM! The last time I bought tubes I got them from a local AG dealer. They were good quality and also 1/2 the price that Coker and DB have listed in their catalogs.

The cheapest source, if they have them in stock, would probably be a junk yard.

I buy 16" tubes for an 8-N ford front tire. The valve stem is shorter, but that is O.K. with me. Had good luck so far.

ajohn,
"for the best deal?"..gotcha!
Well, if these guys great info didn't answer that Q, I have the 'best deal' for you!
I purchased four 16" coker radial belted tubes. They are the 'best deal' for the price and safety they provide. I use them (five years now) in coker 16" radial steel belted tires. These tires are patterned after '35 tires/molds.
In five years...haven't lost a POUND of air

I got a good deal once on five 600 X 16 Firestone tubes for my '35 ford. They were about 1/3 off the regular price and they were marked "blemished". Sounded like a good deal at the time. How could you have a blemished tube? Once they are mounted, no one could see them anyway. During the next 5 years, everyone of the tubes failed at the valve stem. The valve stems developed leaks between the metal stem and the rubber. I soon carried small hose clamps with me so that I could shut off the leaking valve stems, just to get home. I had as many as two valve stems leaking at the same time. We paid good money to attend National Early Ford V8 meets. We were often found parked at the tire repair shop while the rest of the cars were on the show grounds or on a tour. Don't skimp on quality when buying new tubes. It is a false economy.

I just got 4 600x16 Firestone WW Bias from Coker I was told the 13.95 tube in last years catalog was N/A & that they only had the 26.95 raidel tubes - I balked & the salesman sold me the tubes for $17.50 ea.--I was semi happy till I looked at the New catalog sent with the order & the tubes listed for my tire was now $14.95"?? WhUT? Well at least they sent me 4 rubber Grommets for the valve stems to help protect them from the rim. The "Pie Crust Firestones look GREAT!

Lets face it, the low demand for tire tubes has left Coker selling 90% (probably) of the tubes to collector car owners. Even at $26 or $14.95 each, that price isn't too too bad, considering.

I'm not playing devil's advocate here. Yes I'd love to go down to Firestone a few blocks away (on La Brea Ave). But even they don't carry tubes and haven't for two decades!

Three month ago I did a lengthy search for tubes, honestly Coker was really my only choice for fresh tubes. I had only heard of Wallace Wade in Dallas today. So who here knows their prices?

Well guys, many thanks for the helpful hints.I found 17 sixteen inch tubes here in Tyler at a tractor tire supplier for $6.25 each and the dealer says if I buy all seventeen he will make an even better deal.He does not want to offer tubes in the future. These are excellent quality tubes, likely better than what can be obtained from tire people who sell Chineese tubes. Thanks for the help. James, I'll take four of them at that price, plus shipping of course. If you want to flip some.

Good for you James!

I recently mounted WW on my wide-fives and rather than risk using Chinese tubes I re-used the old USA tubes that were in the old tires. After taking off the old tires I inflated the tubes and let them sit in my garage for 6 months. No leaks, so I put them in my new tires. That was months ago and still no leaks..

I think that I would buy one of the tubes and check it out, before committing to all of them.
