Default Meteor VIN Information

I have found a 1949 Ford Meteor that I am interested in and would like to check the Vin for numbers made of this model. Can anyone point me in the right direction, please?

Doubt that you will find any production numbers of specific models (at least none that I know of ) it's just one of the 23,000 or so that were produced in '48-'49

Canadian production figures are out there but not as easy to find plus the Mercury Meteor was a Ford in Mercury dress but I don't know what the production number differences would be between the Meteor model and the regular shoe box Ford of the same year. Same with the Ford Monarch since it is a Mercury in Ford dress. Canadian figures were a fair bit less than US production. There should be number stamped on the frame rail but they aren't always easy to locate. The stampings weren't very deep. Ford stamped firewalls with information too but it was usually body information stamped there.

Ford Canada was using a type of VIN plate system post-war that used an embossed aluminum plate with raised letters and numbers, upper firewall driver's side. '49 Meteors all came stock with aluminum heads marked C8BA, but changed to iron in '50. Ford Canada site has some information. ..B. http://www.ford.ca/heritage/#page=pr...s-meteorPhase1
