Crash on M-14

The upside-down vehicle in about the fourth pic appears to be a vintage Ford even though the story calls it a "pickup". Can anyone tell what it is?

In picture No. 8 I think I see a Lincoln headlamp bezel and it also looks like the car might have fender skirts too.

A 62 Volkswagon bus with a load of marijuana and has Mexican plates on it. Those ford parts was originaly tied on the roof.

Yes, sadly a Lincoln. It has the ladder frame, so it was either a coupe or sedan. Convertibles had the X frame. It looks like the grass around the car is burned. Was there a fire? Upside down gas tank spills a lot of fuel.

Yes, car was hit by a semi, lost control, rolled and burned. Had lap belts, sounds like that was a good thing.

Sorry Men. I watched that movie 4 times and seen no car at all. I thought you guys were joking, so i had to get in on the action. LOL It realy was a Lincoln and i think it was a 42.

Here is a picture of the Lincoln that was involved in this fatal accident on the M-14

It was a 42 Lincoln Zephyr Club coupe and it was not a fatal accident. The owner and his wife are in hospital though. It was hit up the rear by a semi trailer and blown off the road. It finished up upside down and the gas tank exploded.

The guy has been restoring it for the last couple of years and has documented it on the AACA site. It has only been finished a couple of weeks.

Below is the link to the restoration. Well worth the read and the upholstery job on it towards the end is something to see.

Wow. They were incredibly lucky. Another reason to stay off of the high speed highways in an older car. If you are not keeping up with traffic, it can be dangerous.

I believe that the speed limit for trucks on M-14 is 60 mph, but it is largely ignored by truckers as the limit for cars is 70 mph.

There was a time truckers were referred to as the "Knights of the Road." Those days are long gone for the most part.

If you're doing 70 on M-14 you'd better be in the right lane. That road runs 75-85 mph all day long and plenty of folks are doing 90. My '59 will do 75 mph all day long but I don't get close to any freeway with my '50. And those tiny tail lights/brake lights are hard to see. I almost watch behind more than I look forward when driving that car.

Very long gone, but with a few notable exceptions which are often drivers not paid by the mile or by the hour.

Now most of them are better known as "Blights of the Road"! They are not truck 'drivers' anymore, they are truck 'aimers". They just OF AOM THE TRUCK DOWN GHE ROAD and expect everybody to stay out of their way. And most highway patrols have been "encouraged" to leave the truckers alone, let them speed, etc. Big trucking companies like Swift, J. B. Hunt, CR England, etc. have a lot of political clout and use it!
And the little guys know every trick to flout the laws, so they drive fatigued, with bad brakes, outdated tires, etc. The gal driving this semi that hit the Lincoln was not paying attention at all! "I looked up and saw something red." What was she looking at? Certainly not the road!

Here are those pictures of the 42 Lincoln Zephyr Coupe again. For some reason, they dropped out of my earlier Post. Glad that the occupants have survived this terrible accident that was not their fault.

Glad everyone survived. That was a fantastic car before the accident. I spend just as much time looking behind when I drive my 48 Ford. Really takes the fun out of it when traffic is heavy.

Just WOW. I guess doing 55 in the right lane is cause to get plowed over by a semi these days!

But this is the one that does it to me. The tire tracks are from the Lincoln. If I look closely I can imagine the tires coming off the ground as it rolls. The owner said two spins and five rolls!

Adding a second photo that looks to be taken within a minute or two of the Lincoln coming to rest.
