Default Burgess air cleaner question

Just got a burgess air cleaner, stupid question maybe here, but how do you remove the chicken wire/copper screen? I see that the top screws off. How would you get it out without tearing it up, thanks

Why remove it? Use brake cleaner and towel dry.
