Electrical wiring and connectors
Project: adding directional 6 volt
I need to purchase - bullet connectors (both male and female), also need a splitter to add a second wire to an existing tail light wire and finally wire (what gauge suggested?). Any suggestions? Last edited by adileo; 09-01-2014 at 05:57 PM. |

Re: Electrical wiring and connectors
Some of the wiring diagrams give the original Ford wiring gauge for most of the wires, I would use that as a guide. Original style connectors and wire are available through several suppliers.

JSeery - I know I'm not too smart but, I expected better than that response.
But thanks anyway. |

Re: Electrical wiring and connectors
6 or 12 volt? Are you adding LED light? 16 gauge is adequate for most applications. You can get wire at home Depot or any auto part store. I used Tyree Harris for original wiring for my 49.

Re: Electrical wiring and connectors
Road Island Wiring is a good source for original style wiring http://www.riwire.com/
Also Sacramento Vintage Ford http://www.vintageford.com/sect_vehi...=Wiring%20Shop Are you looking for supplies to build your own wiring connections or for a supplier that will put one together for you? Road Island and Sacramento will provide the hardware parts and Road Island will also build you a harness/add on wiring I believe. Edit: 51 Passenger Cars used #16 gauge wiring for the tail lights, that is what I would use. Last edited by JSeery; 09-01-2014 at 07:52 PM. |

Re: Electrical wiring and connectors
Adileo
I sourced the "fahnestock" bullets and connectors from Napa. They are different size from the snap connectors with insulators. I drilled holes in a piece of hardwood to hold the bullets to solder the wires into. For the connectors NOS looks better than Napa's. Hope you keep it 6 volt. Bruce
