Pitman arm question
I'm building an AV8 with an F1 steering box. I want to use a drag link with tie rod ends.
Does anyone know what pitman arm will have the taper on the left or drivers side? What length arm should I buy? - John |

Re: Pitman arm question
If you don't have a clash situation due to split bones being where the pitman arm wants to be, a 32 arm will fit the F2 box.
I'm using a 32 arm on my 32 frame on my current build with a f1 box. It all works like stock as long as you have an original unsplit wishbone. Without seeing your car it is hard to make a rock solid statement about what will work. I show quite some detail in one of my videos. Mart. |

Re: Pitman arm question
Thanks Mart. I'm using an unsplit wishbone, with a 36 standard axle and 37 spindles.

Re: Pitman arm question
Use the 35 36 pitman arm if you have it. Its the shortest and straight/ flat.
I think the change from inside to outside on the pitman arm was the 42 to 48 and also has a offset angle. They all fit the F1 box, it uses the same sector as a 37 to 48 car box. You will still need to split the index splines to get it were you want it on the sector |

Re: Pitman arm question
I'm using a 21A-3590 (or is it a 3550?) It's about 6" center to center of the holes. I had to put a slight twist in it so that the drag link would be aimed up at the steering arm without binding the tie rod end.

PPS: Keep the drag link to the inside. Otherwise, it will limit your steering when turning left.

Re: Pitman arm question
Appreciate the responses and based on what Pete is saying its a good thing I asked. I wasn't aware there would be interference.
Thanks John |
