Default another radiator question

What are the benefits or downsides to the dual core radiators originally used in the 40/41 pickups? One cool better than the other?

thanks

Car show for the original. More tubes in the single core. G.M.

I have one dual and one single, both with the crank hole in the center.

Do you know what the purpose was for separating the two cores?

Normally when a rad is separated into two cores with a gap down the middle, it is so a crank handle can pass through.

Said above.

There are some after market ones that they cut and soldered some of the tubes to make a hole for the crank and put a metal protector in the hole. G.M.

my photos from Ford Archives show both styles in vehicles but more of the photos show them in the pickups. Both have crank holes in the middle. Just wondering if there was an advantage to cooling or not.

Can't imagine any much of an advantage one way or the other. The solid core would have a little more cooling area.

You could tell which side of the engine was having a problem, such as bad water pump, plugged passage, cracked block or blown head gasked etc. Marv
