1939 clutch pedal return stop
Fab’ing up ‘39 pedals in my Av8 with no K member. Everything looks good but just wondering what stopped the clutch pedal when the return spring pulls it back. Something has to stop it to be able to adjust the free play. It’ll be easy to add a bump stop but just wondering what the original car had ??

Re: 1939 clutch pedal return stop
Original cars did have a rubber bump stop. 35-38 rubber bumper was on the underside of the wood floorboard. 39-48 had rubber bumper on the pedal arm, moved with the pedal arm, then stopped against the underside of wood floorboard.
https://thirdgenauto.com/?s=clutch+p...&type_aws=true Note on this catalog page the 39-48 is called a "seal", I guess because it seals the hole in the floorboard. But that chunk of rubber is also the bump stop for the pedal arm. Last edited by JayChicago; 01-04-2024 at 12:37 PM. |
