Re: Embarrassing.....I got caught on Candid Camera
Let's see, your argument could go something like this: Honest your Honor I wanted to stop but the brakes weren't adjusted properly and I didn't think that I could. I also was distracted with the GAV and didn't see the light change.

Re: Embarrassing.....I got caught on Candid Camera
It seems Florida has shortened the yellow lights in some areas by anywhere from a few tenths to a full second in order to boost sales according to a Tampa news investigation. I just got tagged in the mail. $ 158.00 plus a $4.00 "convenience charge" to pay on line. I gently (2 or 3 mph) rolled a right turn on red. Could have bought a part or two with that. First ticket in over 25 years. BOOHOO

If you entered the intersection on green or amber you are legal.

Re: Embarrassing.....I got caught on Candid Camera
As others have stated, in most jurisdictions unless you entered the intersection (as defined by a painted/permanent line) on a red light, you have every legal right to clear the intersection and have the right of way over other vehicles to do so. Whether you want to fight the charge, in my mind, would depend largely on the amount of the fine, the traffic court system costs in you area and the implications on your insurance costs.

Luckyal's correct it could have been a picture of an accident.............I'll also bet they could find a way to cash a picture of the check since you can now send a picture of one through a cell phone to the bank..................I sure love technology................That's why I love driving my A...

Re: Embarrassing.....I got caught on Candid Camera
Hi 42,
Immediately call to see who is your DA for your area, get his address, & write a short letter with exact details to your DA, & even hand carry it to his office without a stamp explaining you only have a 40 h.p. car. If your DA sees that you have a good driving record he may excuse you, (many do); then your court date will be cancelled & you will not have to appear before the judge. If the DA does not let you off the hook, then try pleading with the judge. Just think what would have happened if you would have been in a buckboard with a pair of slow walking mules pulling the load? |

Re: Embarrassing.....I got caught on Candid Camera
In court -and you should go to court- tell the judge" In order to prevent an accident-car would have stopped in intersection- you did the safe thing and
proceded through the intersection. Good luck |

Re: Embarrassing.....I got caught on Candid Camera
I received one of these. I sent them a check and wrote on the back of the check "Endorsement is an admission that this ticket was issued in error".

Re: Embarrassing.....I got caught on Candid Camera
If you go to court tell the judge that you were driving an unsafe vehicle in a careless and a reckless manner ! Then ask to plead NOT GUILTY BY REASON OF INSANTITY and he will likely accept your plea bargain !

Re: Embarrassing.....I got caught on Candid Camera
Here in So-Cal, if you are an illegal immigrant, you can drive with no insurance, no registration, and they police cant inpound your car. So if and when you go in front of the judge, tell him you are new to this country and maybe he will let you off.

Re: Embarrassing.....I got caught on Candid Camera
Do a Internet search. There are several web sites that offer tips on red light tickets. I would certainly be truthful with the courts but these red light cameras are plagued with procedural issues that can be pointed out. Many communities are removing their systems due to these issues. As an example, here is one such site:
http://www.ehow.com/how_2299745_beat...on-ticket.html I have no connection with this site. There are many more available. Good luck in court. Dan |

Re: Embarrassing.....I got caught on Candid Camera
You might want to think about moving to Mexico and giving up your US citizenship and becoming a Mexican citizen , their is no way the US can bring you back for trial, the Mexican govt. wont allow it , they will protect you .
Their is no way you should have to pay a $60 fine just because of a stupid "A" model .

Re: Embarrassing.....I got caught on Candid Camera
You guys are all too nice. Can you see yourself in the picture? No? Case dismissed. Was it green when you entered the intersection? It was? Case dismissed. The options of just paying the fine adds points to your driving record and increases ALL of your insurance premiums. Here in MI, some tickets carry 5yrs worth of EXTORTION every time you renew your plates. You can stand firm for what you may KNOW is correct and fully legal, or you can put up with govt inn-u-endo (Latin for sodomy?).
Last bit of genuine advice, if you do go before a judge, USE AS FEW WORDS AS POSSIBLE AND FOCUS ON THE REASON YOU'RE THERE. As soon as people start telling their life story and how they had to get their car/dog/cat/homework/mom/job, and all the other embellishments that THEY think adds cred to their story, INSTANT guilty or fine. He/she doesn't care what you were driving, where you were going, how many times you had sex this month, what you had for lunch that day...get the picture? Trust me, it works every time Last edited by theHIGHLANDER; 05-27-2013 at 06:30 PM. |

Re: Embarrassing.....I got caught on Candid Camera
Gee, I have a COLLECTION of those photos from my wife running lights or making right on red without stoppping, when I then get a VIDEO of her transgression. The ticket in NYS is on the car, not the driver, amnd carries no points.
Just pay it and get on with your life. You admit you did the crime, so now you have to pay the fine. |
