Default Mystery Wrench

I have a T-Wrench that fits 3/8" hex bolt heads. It has Ford script, a Herbrand H in a diamond trademark, and it is similar in design / appearance to the 5-Z-2038 Dealer Service T-Wrench, but shorter like the one on the top left in the photo. The part number on the wrench is not legible. Can anyone identify this wrench.

Good evening, Bob.

in Germany it used to be that factory branches Ford workshops received frequently used inspection tools from the Ford factory as T-wrench tools. These tools were not part of the on-board tool kit, nor were they available for the end user.

There were no with part numbers stamped.

Hi Werner: Do you have an example of such an "inspection tool" (or photo of such a tool) that you describe? It would be interesting to see a photo of one.

Are the "inspection tools" you talk about, mentioned anywhere in the German Ford Service Bulletins?

Are you perhaps referring to the VLC Ford service tools?

Tee wrenches provided a method of consistency in assembly.. application of torque is smooth, and with a two hand process it’s easy to teach a proper ‘feel’ for the correct tightness of the fastener.

Good evening Brad,

no, unfortunately I do not have an picture. For your understanding; I was in quality control at the Ford factory in the 70s and 80s. Photography was strictly forbidden.

When a new model was introduced, all Ford dealers were given a container of common tools specifically for that type in advance. (Including spare parts that were already expected).

For the V 4 engine, for example, this was a SW-10 mm T-tool for the valve covers, a banana ring spanner for the starter motor, a.s.o.

I must correct my post #2 written above:

The tools that were supplied by the Ford factories to the Ford workshops always had a part number. However, they did not always have the Ford logo stamped on them too.

If that's 3/8" AF, it may be a Model T wrench for working on the ignition coils. Maybe check w/ "Ron the coilman" on the MTFCA website.
