Default Mufflers for dual exhaust

Time to replace mufflers on my 36 Tudor with 59 AB engine.
Have dual exhaust, but no idea what current mufflers are on car. Look like Smitty's

Any suggestions for replacing? I'm not looking for loud, more mellow sound preferred.

Thanks!

I have Smitty's on my 37' and love the sound! Many on this site run straight duals and are happy with the sound as well.

Call Brockman. You will probably talk to the owner. He will ask you inlet and outlet size and length. Steel pack (sharp) or glass pack (mellow). Will make them up and ship in a day or two. Probably under $40 each. Great service and no middle man. John

Had smithys on my 36 with headers and duals, liked them but wanted more bark. Went to my exhaust guy and put a set of steel packs on, 15" long. Big sound change, really like it, people will notice and say what the heck is under your hood!

I have dual headers from Red's with dual Smitty's on my '52 F1 and like the sound a lot. This also relieved some of the back pressure from the cross-over and a single muffler (original setup).

On the subject of v8 flathead exhaust, what is the optimum size pipe for dual exhaust?

Brockman gets my vote, too. I have a set of their mufflers as well as their 3" Echo Cans for a real "vintage" car guy sound and look.

Straight pipes with skinny stock diameter TP's [not loud at all] or go with short Brockmans. You would be surprized how quiet straight pipes are. LOL go for it. ken ct.

It's kind of late 30six but I recommend Porter Mufflers to everyone that asks. Clark Babler is the owner and stands by his stuff 100%. They are incredibly well built and sturdy as well. Anybody that is in the market should definitely consider them. Well worth the investment.

Click on the link below for the Porter web-site.
