Default 40 Ford Headers

I have a 1940 Ford with 289/302 engine. Wondering what kind of exhaust manifoilld /headers will fit (problem is on driver side) ?

I used a pair of 65 289 exhaust manifolds. It is helpful if you can raise the engine about 1". The exhaust pipe will need to be only 1.5" in diameter. Or even better if you can oval shape the exhaust pipe.

I ended building a set of stainless headers during my rebuild of the car----that solve all the problems.

I am presently building a 40 Ford coup with 302 and C4. I have fit in a 302 block to see what exhaust to use. I used a pair of stock Ford exhaust manifolds and they fit very nicely. The left side is perfect, the right side will come out OK , but I may have to tweek the frame opening on that side, not much , about 1/2 inch.
email me at [email protected] and I can give you the part numbers for the manifolds, I can dig up the receipt for them, send you a picture of them if you want it.
