I'm not sure, but I don't think this combo is possible.

Not sure exactly what you mean by two/two or what version FH you've got, but this Edelbrock Slingshot manifold should allow use of original generator w/dual carbs:

Re: flathead two/two intake with stock generator
Thats a hard combination to get working.
Regulars take the alternator but the carb spacing is 4 and some... Super intakes can take the aircleaners but not the generator. Offset mount the generator and run the wide spaced super intake...thats as close as i can think of getting that combination. |

Re: flathead two/two intake with stock generator
I had three 2x2 high rise intake manifolds in mind to suggest until I read you want to use two '34 air cleaners. Unless you do something clever like PeterC did on his 35 3w coupe by combining two 34-36 air cleaners into one very cool looking air cleaner, what you want to do seems impossible to me as well,....UNLESS....you design and make your own intake manifold that will do all the things you need to make this happen.

Ah, yes the ever elusive Hexagon air cleaner.
Two of these should do the trick.

Re: flathead two/two intake with stock generator
I run a Hexagon Tools Intake on my 41 along with an original air cleaner ( the one above is not anything like the original dual carb cleaner - performs very well and no issues with the factory generator
This oval cleaner is what the Hexagon unit looks like. |

I have a Hexagon intake that the crabs mount backwards for 400.00. It's in great shape.

Re: flathead two/two intake with stock generator
If I understand you correctly, here are a couple ideas ....
I believe there is an Edelbrock intake that spread the carbs out and you needed a special adapter to run the generator off of one of the heads. That would work I think but I do not have one to check the spread between them. You may also find a "Y" adapter to place two carbs on a stock intake that would have enough of a spread between them to run the air cleaners and still run your generator. If this floats your boat you just might have to make your own to get enough distance between them. Another possible option is that some time ago I saw an adapter, or a design of one, or someone who had made one as a one-off, that placed two carbs on a stock intake to the left and right. Basically turning the "Y" adapter 90 degrees. One final thought is that there are carb spacers that come in 1,2, and 4" heights. Knowing this could help you take an intake you find and stagger the heights of the carbs (perhaps use progressive linkage if the intake hopefully has a dual plenum to make tuning easier), and your air cleaners may have clearance enough due to the staggered heights. Hope this gives you some ideas ..... |

Re: flathead two/two intake with stock generator
Tom - The Edelbrock Slingshot is a great intake and you can use the stock gen mount. The new Edelbrock Slingshot is a nice option over the rare originals

Re: flathead two/two intake with stock generator
One problem I see with this idea is it is nowhere near this part of the question : " ....that I could possibly run with....two 34 ford air cleaners (6-1/2"each across) " . On the other hand , I've never seen that version , I've only seen the oval one that is also shown

Re: flathead two/two intake with stock generator
After thinking about it, you can flatten or cut and patch the two parts that meet. Only the trained eye would notice they are touching or modified. Hot rodding engineering I guess.

Re: flathead two/two intake with stock generator
No I read post 6 ,8 and 9. it Post 6 talks about the hexagon intake being a possible fit. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy seeing all the cool speed equipment for flatheads and I. Even have one of the Hexagon intakes mentioned. The original poster stated he wanted a 2 x 2 intake that would clear a generator and be able to use 2 of the 34-36 air cleaners is how I read the original question so I must be too much of an idiot to understand it . For what it is worth , the Hexagon intake I have mounts the carbs on approx a 5" center to center and the 36 air cleaner is approx 7" round.

Re: flathead two/two intake with stock generator
As Mart said, I think your asklng the impossible. I had an Edelbrock 2 X 2 intake which ran the generator in the stock location, but the carbs were close together and you would not be able to run the stock air cleaners on it. The intake was not a slingshot. I found a picture of the set up.
