Re: Clutch Chatter
Fort Wayne Clutch does not have one for my car. I have a 52 Ford Mainline. They only go back to 54 Mainline.

Re: Clutch Chatter
They were saying above a Fort Wayne clutch is good and that is what I could not find. Fort Wayne clutch. I bought my clutch from Early Ford V8. Plenty of places sell them.

Re: Clutch Chatter
The clutch for a 1954 is probably a bolt in for your 1952. Get a Ford parts catalog that covers the range you are interested in and check what interchanges.
I would consider a NOS disk like this one listed on that auction site: https://www.ebay.com/itm/27629751657...cAAOSwNipjdX81 |

Re: Clutch Chatter
Put in a diaphragm PP, disc and corresponding flywheel. I used Centerforce products. I got tired of wearing out my hoist and wrenches chasing the same problem.

Re: Clutch Chatter
You might have found the root cause right there with that crack.

Re: Clutch Chatter
I agree with Mart, it probably is part of the problem.
The crack doesn't look fresh to me. I think it's unlikely installing new motor mounts would cause the crack unless the engine was raised at the front corner each time to install them. |

Re: Clutch Chatter
I put a 2x4 under oil pan and lifted about 1/4 inch. Did that crack it? Wasn’t cracked a month ago when I had the flywheel resurfaced

Re: Clutch Chatter
Then It might have.
This info is for a 239 V8, sorry I didn't realize it was a 6 cyl. Ford part # for the housing is AC 6392-D ('52 - '53) There is one for a Merc listed on eBay w/pn AC 6394-D My parts books doesn't list a Merc part # Van Pelt sales says AC 6392-D is for Merc and Ford. Someone might know if there is a difference and what that might be. Further research shows the 6394 D # to be correct. Part number is cast into the bell . Re: Clutch Chatter
Well I got the bell housing off and it looks to me like the block is cracked. The flywheel was cracked 3/4 of the way around. Only 1/4 was not cracked. The pic is of the oil pan and flywheel. I know it has been there for years but I don't remember it being that big. I wasn't looking for a problem so I never thought twice about it. May have had my last ride in the car. Drove it for 54 years.

Re: Clutch Chatter
You have a 215 six cylinder engine yes?
Are you sure that's not just how the rear main cap loops on that engine? Also, were you driving with a known cracked flywheel? If yes, please never do that again. |

Re: Clutch Chatter
Hopefully, they are better than Fort Wayne Clutch.
This was discussed here just yesterday: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showt...ch#post2286976. |

Are you sure that's not just how the rear main cap loops on that engine? I think 38 coupe is right, I looked in the parts book and the main cap is part of the pan rail on the 215. |

Re: Clutch Chatter
Wish I would have seen the email about the rear main a few minutes earlier.
I found a used bell housing but it was missing the fork. My fork is welded in the broken bell housing. Anybody have a fork for sale. AB 7515-B? |

Re: Clutch Chatter
The 49-59 Ford Car Parts Catalog lists the superseded part number B7A 7515-A for the clutch fork in all 52-57 cars. Since you apparently can get a part from any 52 through 57 Ford car you should be able to find something that works for you.
