timing
Can someone tell me the timing for a 50 Ford flathead with an Isky 77B cam and mechanical electronic Mallory ignition?
Thanks; Chris: |

Re: timing
Put it on the pin and let the distributor do the rest.......

Re: timing
I would bump it about 2 more degrees. Even a mild cam like this has more overlap, so there will be some charge dilution and so could use a little more advance.

Re: timing
You might want to see whats in the distributor before you try it. Initial timing is not very important, just so long as the engine starts. Next run it up to 2000-2400 and check advance curve. Then you can determine what you want or need. With vacuum, I like about 28 degrees. However the mechanical should be limited to around 22. A closed combustion chamber will help here.
