Default a wellie important question.

I am getting started on my getting my tudor back together. I am going to be in need of getting my wheels respoked and probably need some new rings.

Does any one know what I should be expecting to pay for respoking? If memory serves me rings are 250 each?

At some point am I a bad person for thinking the antique t motorsports alluminum wheels might be an ok alternative? I would paint them and leave a small silver lip to resemble my chevy disks on my old speedster. I plan on driving this thing when its done so a nice true set of wheels sounds great also.

Atlas and one or two others made metal spokes to replace the wood back in the day.
250 might be in the ball park. You could buy the spokes from Stutzman for less then 10 each and do your own wheels. Even if you bought the spokes from the other suppliers the spokes would run about 125 to 130 plus shipping for each wheel. That would still leave assembly, prep work and painting for you to do.

New hickory spokes from Stutzman cost me $76 a wheel. That includes shipping.

On the video, be sure you read the note posted with it.

What do you mean by rings? Do you mean felloes, or rims?

Steve, on the Ford Barn you can edit things like miss-spelled words.

I thought there was a trueing process after assembly? I have never done anything like this before. I will do a search for more information.
My issue also is spokes range from 10.50-13$ per spoke plus 255$ for rims.

Steve I think those are rims.the part that is demountable with tire on is the rim in my head at least.
I searched but found no internet presence for stutzman so I will call Monday.

12spokes at 10.50 plus 255 for rims times 4 is 1524 plus shipping vs alluminums at 1850$
If the spokes from stutzman are that much cheaper I sure will redo my woods.

Stutzman's are Amish but at least they have a phone, no computer. You can buy and find the demountable rims for a lot less then 255 each. Are you working with 30 or 21 inch? The 21's seem to be in the 75 -100$ (or less sometimes) range for good used ones in need of sandblasting and paint and the 30 inch in good usable shape less then that.
Any truing needs to be done to the felloes before the wheel is assembled to make sure it lays flat. Once the spokes are pressed in and the flange bolted on there is not much truing that can be done. You can add Dina-Beads to the inner tube for balancing. With wood wheels a small amount of run out is ok (1/8 inch but could be a little more).

I have purchased some used rims in the past.my problem is that none have been good enough to use in my opinion. I am very worried about getting a good set.my family will be riding in this so I am extremly worried about the rolling stock. I may be over thinking this though ? Lol

21" wheels also

Unless the latch is broke (that can be fixed) really out of round, has rust out or the lugs are worn there is not much that could be wrong with old 21 inch rims. It's more important that the tires are properly inflated, tread is good, lug bolts/nuts are good, the rim properly seated on the wheel and the wheel it's self is in good shape.

I have several that seem almost to be stretched. when seated onto the inner steel ring the rim did not seat.THe rims are too large of circumrence.
I will just get these all done and tackle finding or buying new rims later.

has anyone have stutzmans phone number? I searched but couldnt find their contact info. Feeling pretty stupid at this point.

Just one more thing.Do you fellas paint all the pieces then assemble the spokes, hub, inner ring? or assemble and paint as an assembly?
