Default Voltage drop for blower motor advice

Fella's, can you recommend a voltage drop (12volt to 6) for the blower fan on a '51 crestliner? Or should I just convert the blower fan to 12volt and if so where may I find one that fits this application?

Joe's Antique Auto lists a 12 volt blower motor. Don't know if it will work for your application but the photo looks pretty standard.

I am using a N A P A voltage reducer in my shoebox. Can't find the part # in my filing(????) system. If the counter person can't find it, e mail me at [email protected]. My son owns a Car-Quest store and he can get me a part #.

'49 '51 blower fans turn ccw, and most 12V blower fans turn cw. The '51 has a two speed, three wire motor, and the one from an early ( late 60s and early 70s )Ford Econoline van is right size and rotation. Use the '51 mounting plate and fan squirrel cage. The van heaters were backward from other truck heaters, with the blower assembly in the cab, so that's probably why they turn opposite from most. You can reverse a blower motor by changing the brush connections OR the field connections, but it's a fuss-ass job and a lot easier to find the right one to start with. ..B.

I used the distributor 1.5 ohm drop resistor purchased it from NAPA for about $6 and mounted it inside the heater and let the fan cool it
and heat the car as well. The resistor will dissipate about 25 watts so it will get hot. 36fordguy
