Slaping noise in engine
When starting the engine a slapping noise [like a leather belt hitting the wall ] came from the front. I pulled the fan belt, restarted and same noise! Suggestions readily accepted.

Re: Slaping noise in engine
Did this just start, or has it happened before?

Re: Slaping noise in engine
Is it the same whether the engine is cold or hot?
My engine also has a noise which I'll probably look into this winter, but I'm sure it's piston slap caused by the rear cylinders being overheated by the cooling chamber being blocked by a lot of rust buildup. |

Re: Slaping noise in engine
Rods out of Alignment is the only thing that causes piston slap.
