No. How can I say this politely? It's not very attractive.

E.T. Gregorie was also the fellow who built the "last" model A in 1945.

Re: Would you buy this if Ford brought it out now?
I personally don't think the car is "ugly" as some say simply because I appreciate it for the styling era that it was built and for what it represents.
Now, the "biggie" for me is Yes I would love to own 'that one' but No if Ford were to mass-reproduce it. Part of the thrill of ownership of an "art form" such as that is to have the only one. If you go to a big car show, and you & two others all have matching cars like this, it kinda takes away the 'Top Gun' element. Then you gotta rely on your own good looks to draw a crowd!! . |

Re: Would you buy this if Ford brought it out now?
The restored car looks great, far nicer now that the red paint job has been replaced with the original interior and exterior colors. I'd love to own it, but a mass produced version would not be of any interest. Edsel's first V8 speedster was discovered by a friend about 20 years ago here in Connecticut. The restoration is moving along slowly and the car is in Tennessee now. Go to the HAMB and do a search and some photos will pop up.

I saw this car in person at the GNRS several years go and the photos don't do it justice. Even in the unrestored condition, you could see the style that was influenced by Edsel. I think it was powered with a warmed over flathead
Yes, I'd buy one in a heart beat! |

I think it's powered by a flathead V8. No, I wouldn't want one.

Very nice car! Edsel often doesn't get enough credit for his ideas. Mr. Gregorie was also very talented. A new version wouldn't have the "soul" of the original, it would be like a high tech streetrod, not one of my favorite things. My 2 cents.

Looks kind of like it should have been in the old "Dick Tracy" comic strip. Not all that attractive but would have been more so in the 40's maybe.

Thanks, I'll check in with some like minded folks. Is it on the V8 site as well?

I think its a good looking car, with a nice flowing design. Its not practical for anything other than a sunny day, but i would like to own it.
