Re: 1938 1939 ford trucks
The 39 windshield is the same size as a 37 but they are not the same frame. The '37 separates in the middle on the sides and the '39 separation point is not the same place. I do not know if the pedal assembly on the one-ton is the same as the pedal assembly on the 1/2 ton. Check the part number on the pedal assembly and see if it has a "T" as part of the part number. Looking at the pictures, it looks like a 1 1/2 ton. Maybe you could find the serial number on the frame and post it?

Re: 1938 1939 ford trucks
I bought this '38 PU for $600, it was in great condition! But I sold the body and just kept the frame and running gear, today a '36 sits on that frame.

Re: 1938 1939 ford trucks
For $100 you could part it out and likely earn 5 to 10 times the money, likely much more...that is if you believe in Capitalism...Looking at your pics, you have a Cab likely worth $500 The grille, though bent up, a $100 easily...The frame, easily, a few hundred ..the running boards, likely $300 the pair since thehy don't look rusted out or bent up. The fender I can see needs some welding but I don't see any rust where it attaches to the body...Fenders: $250 each ..Motor? BONUS

Since 1938 1939 ford trucks came up......
There seems to be very little activity in the 38-39 social group, or am I missing something.?
Thanks, Gordon

Re: 1938 1939 ford trucks
I saw a thread here about seats in a 1938 pickup and now I can't find it. Darn. I am trying to figure out how the seat backrest is suspended. My truck has 2 hinges attached to the bottom that are hooked to the back but this doesn't seem right. I have to remove the whole assembly to get underneath the seat, very awkward. Someone said that their seat was attached at the top on a hinge under the back window which makes more sense than the way mine is done. Any help would be deeply appreciated. Thanks, tallrick.

Re: 1938 1939 ford trucks
My 39 seat back is hinged at the top. Then you can lift the seat bottom to gain access to the jack and tools under the seat. However, my pickup was originally a stake bed and the gas tank is under the seat. The 38 - 39 pickup seats that I have seen are one piece and the seat slides back and forth to only 2 or 3 positions. The gas tank is in the rear and the filler is through the left rear fender.

This popular old thread just keeps coming back to life, like Elvis, it's timeless.

Re: 1938 1939 ford trucks
Came acrost a 1939 1 ton this year that I assume was a custom of delux model. It had the ashtray in the center of the dash, sliding rear window, locking glove box door chrome windshield frame and plated grill, and the hood support was a spring loaded arm simular to the 1942 hood spring. I have already sold it to a father son restoration project.

Re: 1938 1939 ford trucks
another interior question. above the doors there is a strip that runs front to back about 18 to 20 inches long. i think they help hold the headliner in. if any one has a picture of them i would sure like to see it. i have looked around for a set and no luck, so will try to fab my own. thanks. tr

Rick, mine are longer and go down behind the door also. Beads will make it hard to make, I would think......
See photos Gordon
