Anyone here moved seat for more leg room ?
Question:
Does seat riser need removal OR moved ?
A guy who is doing the work, is asking !
Does the slanted riser need to be removed to make floor flat or how is seat secured safely?

The service bulletin on the subject instructs how to modify the front edge of the shelf that the back cushion attaches to. A person can only gain a little more than an inch unless further mods are made.

We moved the seat in a 1929 Business Coupe back 3 inches by moving the seat riser to the back of the frame cross brace, shortening the package tray 3 inches and cutting the trunk floor to move the front half back. My son wrote up a detailed procedure for doing all this, but it is too long an article for this forum. It came out quite nice and everything can be undone should someone want to take it back to original. PM me and I will send a copy of the article.

I bought the “z” shaped seat mounting from Snyder’s and it gave me 2” of additional leg room in the front of my 29 Tudor. It is an easy option that uses the same mounting holes in the floor so it is easy to put back if you want. These parts are listed for a Tudor so I would suggest calling them o see if they will work in your car. Snyder part info:

I moved back the seat in my '29 std coupe by – as noted by other posters – altering the package tray and the seat mounting brackets. No adjustment to the riser or other sheet metal required.

I regret not replying to you guys valuable sooner.
‘Things’ are not going well for me now, as I’ve been informed that I must undergo two additional back surgeries, if I can have a chance to reduce some of the serious pain that I’m experiencing 24/7. This will be in addition to the 5
Back ops in the last 8 months. So it’s hard to concentrate on this, my only hobby.

I have a 68C cabriolet, but I believe my method of making room will apply to the coupe as well. I removed 2" of the package tray...this allowed me to shift the seat rails back to provide a full additional 2" of leg room beyond the normal adjustment...for my 6'0" frame this allowed a wonderfully improved driving experience and allowed more entry room as well. These photos show the highlights of my "cut and weld" work on the package tray...not very elegant, but as this is a completely hidden piece of sheetmetal I was not worried about how it looked...function is identical to original and I was able to reinsert the wood piece under the new angle so as to have a location for tacking the connector fabric that goes between the seat back and package tray. For those interested in a similar arrangement, I was able to weld the package tray using a hobby type MIG welder obtained from my local big box store...quite easy work for me as a novice welder...(and yes, I realize I get no points for quality of weld, but it works!)

Additional photos here in response to some detailed inquiry...Since on the Cabriolet at least the package tray provides rigidity and is integral to support of this portion of the body, I wanted to make certain I did not weaken the body structure at this point. Looking at the end area of my cut it is easy to see how I managed to leave a portion of the heavy angle that attached the end of the package tray to the body...From what I could tell there was no weakening of the body framework in the final installation.
