If everything is working correctly, 3/4" open on the GAV is a "tad" rich. Normal should be about 1/8 to 1/4" and when cold at start should be about 1/2" open until warmed up. Once warmed up, you should be able to lean it back to the 1/8" to 1/4." Of course, all A's have their individual sweet spot. If your car runs smooth and gets decent mileage, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Check your plugs to see if you are running too lean or too rich and adjust your GAV accordingly, JMHO.

Mine seems to run better about 1/2 open. At slow speeds, I can turn it down to 1/8 to 1/4 but it's lean when accelerating. I've never known if there was an exact science to the GAV because at the end of the day, we are dealing with an 80+ year old car.
