E28: "Drum" Tailight
Probably another case of too much time on my hands waiting for the snowplows to show me some asphalt!
In reviewing my photos of A13440A Taillight body, I notice some variations in size, location, and type of imprint. I don’t have access to engineering drawings to reference. Do I just write these details off to variances in Ford’s vendors? A. Duolight (large); Ford (small); {raised letters} B. Ford (large); Duolight (small); {raised letters} C. Duolight (large); Ford (small); {embossed letters} ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ According to the MAFFI Parts Index: * 12-13-’26 (EI 19383): no suffix; identifies the body as “Formerly T-3152-S” … possibly intended to be a direct carry over from the “T”. * 8-4-’27 (EI 1725): no suffix; possibly enough change from the “T” style to warrant a new part number? * 3-28-’28 (EI 7970): adds the “A” and “B” suffix - Interestingly, the 1-1’28 Parts Price List had already included the “A” suffix (nickel plate) and “B” suffix (black paint-commercial). - The Judging Standards suggest the script was dropped at this date … do not know if this is included in this EI. * 1-3-’29 (EI 11550): introduces A13407 ‘Teacup’ style taillight body. * 06-01-’29 (EI ____) : adds the “AR” suffix (replacement item). The 7-1-’31 Parts Price List also shows “AR” suffix {I do not have the other PPLs after Oct 1,'28} to review) * 7-10-’29 (EI9-11109) adds the “D” suffix … since this part has already been identified as “AR”, not clear why is introduced? |

FWIW. I can't help but think that the B script has been made from a Model T light.

Charles,
I've asked the same questions more than a few times.. I have a "C" in steel, with a Ford script plate holder,....last tagged in '53. Maybe the new revision will help..............in 6 months. |

Re: E28: "Drum" Tailight
I checked on a 26-27 Tudor that a friend has had for over 30 years. Same tailight as
