They went public, but the family retains majority ownership and control of the board of directors.

I hate that chicken-s**t "fee" thing that vendors do. Here in the PRC when you have your oil changed by a shop there's a "fee" for disposal of the oil. And a tire carcass disposal "fee" when you buy new tires, regardless of whether you're disposing of old tires or not. Not to mention a general "environmental fee" that gets tagged onto every service order. That's a cost of doing your business. JayJay

Re: follow up on Hagerty
They told me it was $5 more until my renewal in February, then $30 for the year. Time will tell I guess, my fingers are crossed.

Re: follow up on Hagerty
I have Hagerty, but every time I added a car I was charged full price on top of full price for the other cars. Never just 30 bucks.
I had better do some calling...... |

Re: follow up on Hagerty
With Hagerty there is one liability charge, and when you add a car you just pay for the additional comprehensive. That price is set by the value set and agreed upon.It can be $30.depending on the value you set and your location.I have three A's with them right now,I pay under $300.for all three.I can't remember the value on all of them, but I do remember one is valued at $28,000.

Re: follow up on Hagerty
keith you are getting a heck of a deal. Illinois insurance rates really aren't all that bad compared to most states. I'm paying around $650 for three cars valued at around $30,000 each average. Each car is like $215 each.
I'll be talking to them Monday............. |

Re: follow up on Hagerty
The Hagerty bill has arrived. Verdict: $5 for the term through renewal, and $30 for the renewal period.

Re: follow up on Hagerty
big difference in cost when you value your A at say 10k vs 30k. Jeff, that is why you feel your rate is high.
it isnt. 200. per car is very fair. |

I jumped to conclusions. I talked to Hagerty, nicely, and the lady explained it very well. It was an ah-ha moment I should have stopped and thought it through Insurance in NW Illinois is pretty reasonable overall this is a good area of the country no wild fires, hurricanes, tsunamis and floods, limited tornadoes, etc. I have the three old cars valued at quite a bit of money, and they suggested raising them as prices of these cars has gone up quite a bit. I am looking at replacement cost what it would cost to get another one in the same condition. It isn't cheap. Mach 1's are through the roof it's crazy. Thanked her and am staying with them! Will pay up when premium comes through! |

I just added a "new" 30 roadster to my policy. I have 3 Model A's, a CJ5, an 05 Mustang convertible, and my 69 Shelby on my Hagerty policy. The Shelby isn't cheap either... view.jpg |

Terry I have a '69 Shelby on my 'wish list' and you are right they are big dollars. Nice cars both of you guys,,,,, love 'em |

Surprising how a lot of us have a muscle car tucked away when you feel the need for speed and the Model A won't quite cut it!! A lot of guys on here also have Camaros and Chevelles and such too. Plus laying the hammer down on a Mustang won't snap an axle key that a Model A sports, that and the rear ends are the weak link. I like them all from Model A to Mustang |

Re: follow up on Hagerty
I have owned the Shelby for 52 years (she's my 1st born child) and she is nice to look at but I don't drive her on the road, but the Model A's are really fun to drive.
