Default Not popular but...pinto engine?????

I have an old rusty, welded up "A" frame and a pinto engine that I want to put together. Does anyone have a close up picture showing where these mount on the frame and a drawing of the mounts that you would share?
It also has and auto transmission I hope to put in with it.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Don

I considered it briefly when I was in my "driveability" mode - even to the point of negotiating a price with the junqueyard of $300 for the motor and tranny (don't know if it works - he said.) All abandoned along with the hydraulic brakes after I came to my senses (and the torque issue.)

But - more discussion here. You can ALWAYS count on FordBarn for discussion.

See https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=78089 It also references over to HAMB (and back too I guess.)

I have driven cars with the Pinto/C4 or Pinto/'39 transmission set ups. It's very nice if done properly! If I were to put a different motor in my A besides an A motor, I would definitely go the Pinto route.

My first choice would be a Model A or B engine. After that I would choose a 4 cylinder Chevy II engine (153 cubic inches, 181 cubic inches in the industrial /Mercruiser version) over a pinto. I am currently running a 181 cubic inch Mercruiser in my '32 roadster. It has been in there for 30 years. If I was doing it today it would get a Model B engine.

Which Pinto engine is it. The 200 c u or the 2.3 cu. I have put the 2.3 in a Model A frame with a C-4 behind and have some pictures but wont post them on this site- to much backlash. I still prefer the Model A engine over the Pinto, but I just could not help myself and had to try it. Contact by P M and I can send pix. ken

Ken, I think you need to say 2000 cc or 2300 cc so the guys know how small the engine really is. Sounds like something that would be good to post on HAMB and just give us a link. I know what you mean when you say "had to try it", wished that I didn't although the engine has been good to me over the years.

Threads like this have been closed in the past, and I have no problem with that as it is way out of the purpose of this forum.

With that said 3 years ago member PetesPonies was putting in a pinto engine into an A. Might want to contact him.

Also this may be of some help;

Not a Model A, but back in 1962 I took the Olds engine out of my 32 and put in a 4 cyl Pontiac Tempest engine. Had almost as much "get up and go" as the Olds.

Pinto was a popular conversion for the A as was the Chevy II.

Some Pinto cars require a Mitchel Overdrive, installed BACKWARDS, to get up our hills!!
Too bad the Pinto engines don't have 200.5 CUBIC INCHES!!
