Re: Winter Cruise with Old Glen
I really enjoy your touring. You are a fine example of the Ford enthusiast that drives them! I also like that your car is a Fordoor, as they dont get a lot of press. I would enjoy them even more if the mic was tuned into the engine, road and shifting sounds. Keep up the good work, Love it.

Re: Winter Cruise with Old Glen
The 195 you picture here (G-BTBJ) actually started life as a CESSNA 190. It was purchased from PHILLIPE CAMUS in France (then F-AZRE) by ROGER REEVES in February 2008 and is now based at Rednal Airfield, Shropshire in England. This particular aircraft was built in 1952 but was re-engined during February 1989 and thus became a type Cessna 195B, the powerplant (along with the bumps on the cowling) being the main difference between the variants. Re: Winter Cruise with Old Glen
I believe that if you'll go back and even remotely pay attention to one of those old Sky King episodes, you'd possibly realize that my avitar IS Sky King's "Songbird", N67832. You should also note that Songbird is ONE word on the T-50. Pre-Sky King photo below. DD

Re: Winter Cruise with Old Glen
I hadn't noticed that your avatar is, indeed, the old "Bamboo Bomber". Cool.

Re: Winter Cruise with Old Glen
Wow, a memory jog... Sky King (the TV program) was nationally sponsored by Ovaltine. My friends father was the Account Executive for the ad agency that placed Ovaltine's advertising, he gave me an 8X10 autographed black & white photo of Sky King & Penny standing in front of the airplane...

Re: Winter Cruise with Old Glen
The 195 we flew had mohair interior and seats 5. It cruise at 165. It was a nice airplane. When taxing down the runway had to zig zag to see. You bring back old memories. I also had a 170 tail dragger.

Re: Winter Cruise with Old Glen
Ovaltine actually sponsored the Howdy Doody Show on NBC, not Sky King. My friends dad, who worked on the Ovaltine account, did get me the 8x10, guess that's why I related it to Ovaltine. As I recall, there was no sponsor reference on it but, that was over 50 years ago. Wish I still had the photo! My father represented Bob Smith's (Buffalo Bob) radio stations and I was in the Peanut Gallery on some of the Howdy Doody "Ovaltine" shows broadcast from NBC in Rockefeller Center, my early start in broadcasting... LOL

Re: Winter Cruise with Old Glen
I thought Sky King's Songbird was neat, but I liked Pat Brady's Nellybelle best.
