Default Making Progress on My 39 Zephyr

Have had some off time for the last few weeks and have made some progress on my Zephyr. Rebuilt and installed the Columbia and got the front axle installed also. Got it off the rotisserie. Note the plug in the bottom of the torque tube, never seen that on a Ford but Lincoln has one .My only guess is that since the Lincoln has a seal on the pinion it would provide a place to check for leaks. The lincoln unlike the Ford has a Hypoid rear which has the pinion at the bottom of the banjo housing. Will install the transmission tomorrow . Had a can of Ford spring grease Ive had for years, decided this would be a good time to open it up and use some of it.

Hi Ken, I got your text message. My I phone died, so I can't respond to text on the 'flip phone' temporary replacement. We haven't installed the Columbia in the LZ yet, I'm trying to finish up the rewiring, etc. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Vic

Notice the Lincoln Columbia unit has no oil plug. I've seen Lincoln's with and without the plug but all the Ford units have one.

I had a 39 Zephyr back in the 50's when i was in the Navy. It had an 85 hp V8 in it. I was stationed in Keywest and on week ends we drive up to Miami to find some chicks. A bunch of us would pile in an pedal to the metal in OD all the way to Miami and back. The only time I had to shif out of OD was when we came to 7 mile bridge, engine wouldn't pull it. Trink was so big 3 guys could sleep in it. God I wish I had it back. It finally died, so we left on the side of the road. Keep up the good work, looks great.
