Default 59A Thermostat

After reading around quite a bit I decided to purchase thermostats for my 59A.

As I was ordering some parts from a reputable online flathead shop and 180 thermostats where on the menu I ordered a set instead of taking the PN to my local auto supply.

Received the parts yesterday and these are obviously not intended to fit my 1-7/8” 59A coolant neck.

I’m unfamiliar with the 8BA but perhaps it uses standard size thermostats under the thermostat housings?

Only a $20 error but a little disappointed in myself for assuming that these would fit and not purchasing the right thing locally. I'd also like to understand the problem.

Thank You

Could be that these are intended for the 49-53 thermostat housings.
The ones at the front of the heads.
Just another note- Buy the thermostats that fail in an open position,
they're a couple dollars more, but won't cost you an engine if they fail.
The name for them is "reverse poppet", but not one person has ever recognized the term.
