Default '40 Pickup "A" pillar stuff...

Anyone out there know what goes over the windlass on the tack strip running up the sides of the "A" pillars (between the windshield inside molding and the door opening) in my 1940 pickup? And where I might obtain whatever that might be? I am guessing some pieces of a tack hiding material??? Thanks as usual guys. Dave in Spokane (509) 467-8773 [email protected]

Kind of what I was thinking and as luck would have it, not only did I thought I remember buying some of this 20+ years ago but also was able to find it where it was in my shop. Thanks for the help. Dave

Have the same truck ('41) and am interested in your "better" picture. I haven't seen a properly restored 40 or 41 to see the detail you might be able to show.

I think that the 40 & 41 pickups had the same windlace attaching system that the 38 & 39 pickups used. The windlace was nailed to the sheet metal and the nails were covered by metal strips. One metal strip was over the door and the second metal strip was straight and came down the to the seat base level. These strips come up on e bay from time to time and are not all that pricey. They are painted body color ant attached with screws. I think that even though the doors are differnt from 39 to 40, the shape of the opening is the same.
