I am looking at a 1951 Ford and wonder what are the common rustout areas to look for the than rocker panels, fender bottoms, headlight areas etc. Thanks for any help.

My 1950 was rusted in the drivers floor, I also has to run a ground directly to the front directional socket to get them to work properly, must have been just enough rust/corrosion around grill and body to inhibit the ground.

You pretty much named them all with the exception of all the floor panels.
Depends also what climate it resided in.

All the body mount areas. Rear of the trunk floor. The frame.

I lucked out with mine.

Check the front edge of the hood. They commonly rust there also.

Really simple, any part that's made out of steel.

Rear pan, chassis outriggers, bottom of The A pillars , rear wheel arch lip, inner sills.
Take a good torch with you.
