Default Electric Pump on a 40

Where do you install an electric fuel pump on a 40 with dual exhaust.

There is not much room on the frame back by the tank with the exhaust pipes running through there. Thanks

I mounted mine, which is a pretty large Mallory unit, on top of the rear crossmember. Before I had installed the dual exhaust, I had it right next to the tank on the driver's side, but there was just no room for it there with the exhaust. My particular pump choice works well in the configuration I have it in, but you would want to ensure yours will function properly in the orientation you will be mounting. Good luck!

On our '39 CS, with dual exhaust, I installed the electric fuel pump, filter and fuel pressure regulator on the cross member just forward of the fuel tank. I loosely wrapped everything with heat deflecting material and secured the ends of the wrap with tie wraps. The "system" has been performing flawlessly for several months to date. Best of all, there has been NO Vapor Lock.

I fitted one in front of the fuel tank up fairly close to the floor to protect it from road debris.

Mine's mounted on the front of the rear cross rail, just behind the tank. It is plumbed to pull from the drain hole on the bottom of the tank.

You know what they say about great minds Marv... LOL By the way, the "pass through" pump on the '39 CS is working fine and, I've built one and installed it on the '39 LZ however, I have not had a chance to try it yet as I'm still in the rewiring process.

Another vote for the lower part of the rear crossmember just to to the front of the tank. Pumps are supposed to be mounted near the tank bottom. This position is not seen unless on a rack, and it is reasonably accessible for maintenance.
