The Old Motor

There is a neat photo of a Model A pickup in the latest edition of The Old Motor, see https://theoldmotor.com/?p=157396. I would publish the photo here but I am not sure of the copyright issues.

The pickup is typical of how you would find an old Model A in the early 1960's. I especially like the hub caps. They may be Tupperware.

I just did a 'find' in the article on Groucho, and someone had posted this a couple of days ago ---

The last photo looks like an older Groucho Marx sitting on the Model A truck.

No Ford oval in the radiator.

Not that Groucho ever drove a truck. In the 20s when he and his brothers were on Broadway, he was a fan of luxury cars, he wrote once that he had a Pierce Arrow.
One story he told:
One day he was washing it near Central Park.
A guy passes and says it’s a beautiful car.
“Yes” Groucho says, it belongs to my boss”.
The stranger asks what It’s like being a chauffeur…
“He pays terrible…but he lets me sleep with his wife”…

I read once that Groucho and Gary Cooper use to like to race each other. Groucho with his supercharged Mercedes vs "Coop" and his SSJ Duesenberg.
I never read who would win?!?

It may fall under the “Fair Use” exception for educational purposes since you are not selling it or making a profit. It’s also allowed as long as you cite the source. In addition, the copyright holder would have to sue you and it probably wouldn’t be worth the cost. They might just ask you to delete it.

LOL Roy Acuff was out mowing his land out by the road, on an old tractor. Likely and old Ford 8N. Some older woman pulls up and asks him - "what does that lady the that lives here give you for mowing her land?" Roy; "Maam, she lets me sleep with her". Obviously the woman sped off in horror. Whistlin' Bill Anderson just loves telling that story. LOL

Looks like it could be a homebuilt from a sedan body to me (?).

Budd contracted to manufacture all the 82 series cabs so they were all made by Budd but finished by Ford. Most folks refer to that last production cab as a Budd cab since they were well known for their large pressings from steel. The steel top cab ended up being the one referred to as a Budd cab likely due to it's reputation for steel tops.

Look closely from the rear of the doors back and I think it's pretty apparent that the body is that of a shortened sedan. The body behind the doors is longer than a pickup would be, the remains of the sedan beltline is partially there, the box is not stock - could be homebuilt out of wood - and the sedan fenders on the rear have been widened (joint clearly visible).

Interesting picture just the same.
