Default Tracking car owners

My old Ford has a 1960s or 70s antique tag (Tenn) in the trunk. How do I go about tracking the tag to see who owned it? I bought the car in the late 70s from a dealer. He simply said that it came out of Tennessee. That's all I have for information. Thanks.

Good luck. My 50 Custom came out of North Carolina, and we have the old North Carolina tags from just about 10 years ago. The fella who sold it to me was obviously very sick and dying at the time I purchased it (so I didn't ask a ton of questions) said that it was from NC. I tried very hard to find that previous owner just to get the history of my car. I even had connections who tried to trace the tag number. I got nowhere.
