What Is Wrong In These Pics?
What is wrong in these pictures? Besides missing an air cleaner there is an issue. What is it?
Alright! There may be more than one issue but there is one that blatantly stands out.

Re: What Is Wrong In These Pics?
That funny-looking electrical replenishing device...the ALTERNATOR, along with the 12v electrical storage device...the BATTERY! Also, that white teflon tape-looking stuff on the fuel line fittings MAY become an issue at a later date. DD

Re: What Is Wrong In These Pics?
no temp reading on passenger side ,wrong temp sender(it is the driver side sender) if the correct passenger side sender is installed, it could be hooked to stock dash gauge- with voltage reduced to 6v so both heads could be monitored. Throttle spring not hooked up or not tensioned properly, fuel line from tank mounted too rigid to allow for engine movement. nice job keep up the good work...jack

Re: What Is Wrong In These Pics?
On top of already spotted, I've always thought that copper tubing fuel line was a no-no. Thanks for the fun.

Re: What Is Wrong In These Pics?
The choke cable is attached to the vacuum line. In one of the other photos you can see the choke cable attachment on the drivers side of the engine. You need to flip the bracket over.

Re: What Is Wrong In These Pics?
Wow! You guys are tough!
1. After much thought and consideration I decided to stay with 12V. 2. The 7RT carb has no throttle provision. The bracket came from another carb and I didn't want to cut the throttle side off in case I need to go to another carb. 3. The temp gauge is an aftermarket affair that was already in the truck, but the original gauges are intact. 4. The rattle can said Ford Red. It may be the pictures. You still haven't located the big issue that will have to be changed I am sure.

Re: What Is Wrong In These Pics?
It isn't attached to the vacuum line, it just looks that way in the picture.

Main power wire from alternator is not properly isolated from rubbing on engine and firewall. jack

Re: What Is Wrong In These Pics?
Ken, Richard,
Good eye! That is the issue! Not only is the cap on backwards the tube is 180° out. The cap won't fit any other direction. I believe this setup would create a vacuum in the crankcase pulling air and dirt into the engine through the breather. I'll change this before driven. Thanks! Shadetree

Re: What Is Wrong In These Pics?

Re: What Is Wrong In These Pics?
You're right, 8RT heads have a lower compression ratio so I chose the 8BA's. Found `em at Hershey last fall. Good eye!
Thanks!

Re: What Is Wrong In These Pics?
That is a belief that I personally think has been proven to be unreliable. I own 4 truck engines (2 of which are still in their original trucks), and they all have 8BA heads. Some of the shoebox guys will disagree, but us truck guys have seen way too many original trucks in the weeds that were probably parked 50 years ago with 8BA heads.

Re: What Is Wrong In These Pics?
How big is the difference between an 8BA and 8RT head. I took one of each a while back and turned them upside down and filled a dome in each with water to see how much different they were and they came out the same???
