Default Hub cap question

The hub caps on a recently purchased Tudor seems to be lacking as to the way they are secured to the wheels. It seems someone has simply bent the ears on the hub cap (spread them open) and then added a little silicon caulk on the inside to stop the rattles.

I see that one of the parts supply houses sells a hub cap tool, so I am wondering what the proper installation actually is. Should you be able to pop them on and off, when properly installed? Any photos?

Sounds like a standard and proper installation to me. You should not be able to pop them on and off. You have to bend those tabs. But three or four are adequate; you don't have to bend them all over.

I always put mine on with the wheels off of the car. That way you can reach in and bend the tabs properly.
